A clear night sky looks so full of stars that it appears impossible to work out which one is which. In this talk Dr Fred shows that it is not half as bad as it looks and will show how to navigate your way around the sky. We will also discuss interesting objects that we can observe through our binoculars and telescopes if the sky is clear.
Join us at the Dark Sky designated site of Ramsey Heights Countryside Centre in the heart of the Great Fen for an evening of cosmology and stargazing delivered by Dr Fred Stevenson (Astronomer at Kielder Observatory). Dr Stevenson obtained a degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Leicester in 1980 followed by a PhD in Cosmology from Durham University in 1986. After further research he has spent the past twenty five years teaching adult education classes in astronomy, physics and mathematics at a variety of venues throughout Northumberland, County Durham and North Yorkshire.
Please note: This event will go ahead regardless of the weather. If stargazing isn't possible, Dr Stevenson will give an additional talk on Earth alongside the planetarium programme.
